I guess the back was good after all. I had a good race, running in second and third with Devon Featherstone for the first 2 laps. Adam Campbell was off like a whippet, as expected, and after I dropped Devon on lap 3, I pushed hard. Coming into the final lap of 4 at around 37km, Adam had a 4 minute lead. Unfortunately he pulled up a few km later with some discomfort in his hamstring. Knowing he had Hardrock coming up he made the smart decision to back off and drop. I held on for the win, and was able to defend my 2012 title!
A great eat race, fantastic course and a fun atmosphere. And it's always great to win an ultra!
